The UAE and France have had strong and vibrant relations that are bound to develop steadily, said Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

In remarks during a meeting in Abu Dhabi yesterday with Renaud Dutreil, French Minister for Small Businesses, Sheikh Mohammed underlined the commitment of the two countries to further broaden the scope of bilateral cooperation.

Sheikh Mohammed cited the construction of a branch for the renowned Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi and the opening of a Sorbonne University branch, as two glaring examples showing the depth of Franco-UAE ties. The meeting also discussed ways of creating a conducive climate for the growth of small and medium scale enterprises.

"As spelt out by President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the vision of Abu Dhabi embraces a strong growth, not only for large scale businesses but also for small and medium-sized businesses. In the end, the ultimate goal is to create a partnership between various sectors", said Sheikh Mohammed.

For his part, the French official lauded the liberal economic polices pursued by Abu Dhabi and the UAE in general. Speaking about the French experience in small and medium scale businesses, Minister Dutreil said his country attached greater importance to this sector, adding that there are some 2.5 million small and medium scale companies in the France. "We have earmarked 6 billion euros to support this sector", he said. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
