Chiefs of Staff of the armed forces of the member states of the Gulf CO-operation council held yesterday the fourth meeting at Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi City.

Addressing the Supreme Committee of the GCC Chiefs of Staff at the opening ceremony, UAE Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi conveyed to the committee greetings of the UAE leadership, namely President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

"The meeting of the (GCC) Chiefs of Staff is a true representation of military cooperation among GCC member countries ... and is being held in a critical junction of time due to regional and international circumstances which warrant careful consideration of potential risks in the region and the world...and considering relevant alternatives to deal with any challenges that might come up, along with laying the foundations for a common (GCC) military strategy for the armed forces of member countries towards military integration", Al Rumaithi said.

"Current changes, trends and challenges call for learning lessons, closing ranks and intensifying efforts to promote regional security and stability,” he added. The Supreme Committee of the GCC Chiefs of Staff will be holding a second session this evening. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
