GCC Coordination Committee on Aid to Yemen discusses humanitarian situation in Yemen

RIYADH: The GCC Co-ordination Committee on Aid to Yemen, held its meeting yesterday at the Secretariat-General of the GCC to discuss the humanitarian situation in Yemen.

The committee reviewed the humanitarian efforts of the GCC states in Yemen to alleviate the suffering of people there. It praised the efforts and discussed a mechanism to boost these efforts to include development projects and other requirements.

The committee was also briefed by representatives of the UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs about a response plan to the humanitarian needs in Yemen prepared by the office.

The GCC committee comprises representatives of the foreign, finance and development and international co-operation ministries, as well as development funds, the GCC Red Crescent Societies and the GCC General-Secretariat. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395286465128.html
