GCC Foreign Ministers decry Israeli carnage

Riyadh - GCC Foreign Ministers have condemned Israel's brutal bombarding of Bait Lahia, in Northern Gaza, which "resulted in the killing of innocent Palestinian people". The Ministers decried the international community's silence on this act, which they described as "criminal" and "a terrorist act that defies all legislations and human principles and would not boost restoration of security and peace in the region.”

According to a press statement issued yesterday at the end of the GCC Foreign Ministers' 28th extraordinary meeting held here, the Council reviewed latest developments in the region and their potential impact on regional and international security and stability.

The meeting, presided over by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister and current Chairman of the GCC Ministerial Council, also reviewed efforts aimed at reaching an amicable solution to the crisis over Iran's nuclear dossier, and expressed hope that the matter could be resolved amicably. The Council congratulated Sheikha Haya bint Rashid Al Khalifa for appointment as the current Chairman of the United Nations General Assembly, and wished her success. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
