President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his confidence yesterday that the 27th GCC summit, under the presidency the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saud Arabia, would come out with more important, constructive resolutions regarding current regional and international developments.

The UAE President also said the summit would issue important resolutions conducive to boosting the GCC joint action and GCC institutions in order to meet aspirations of its peoples for more prosperity and stability.

'The dangerous challenges our region is passing through as well as the consecutive developments and their repercussions on security and stability in the region and the world at large place heavy responsibility on our shoulder calling for unifying vision and harmonizing stances,' Sheikh Khalifa said in a statement following his arrival here to participate in the GCC summit.

Sheikh Khalifa said that he was pleased and satisfied with what had been achieved since the 26th summit which he chaired in Abu Dhabi last December. He reviewed these achievements in the areas of economy, monetary, security and military.

Of these key achievements were the formation of a committee to combat terrorism, conclusion of a treaty for extradition of the convicts and approval of the common regulations for combating trafficking in persons, which dubbed the 'Abu Dhabi Declaration'. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
