Riyadh - The GCC foreign ministers reiterated on Thursday the right of the UAE to restore sovereignty over its three islands - Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Musa - occupied by Iran. The ministers affirmed in a statement issued at the end of their 103rd meeting here last night that: 'The three islands are part and parcel of the UAE'. They urged Iran to positively respond to the efforts of the UAE and the international community to settle the issue through direct negotiations of referring the case to the International Court of Justice. They also regretted the lack of progress in regards to regional and international contacts with Iran in this respect. The meeting, which was hosted by Saudi Arabia, was attended by UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
