Labour and Manpower Ministers of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have held their 39th coordination meeting on the sidelines of the current 37th Arab Labour Conference being held in Manama, Bahrain.

The UAE is represented to the said GCC meeting and the Pan Arab conference by Labour Minister Saqr Ghobash.

20 Arab ministers and 19 Arab, regional and international organisations are taking part in the Pan Arab labour meeting which kicked off on Saturday and runs to March 11th. The meeting seeks to find solutions to a number of important issues, including poverty, unemployment and low wages, as well as the impact of economic changes on Arab markets.

The GCC meeting is chaired by Bahraini Labour Minister Majeed Bin Hassan Al-Alawi. It discussed the topics on the agenda of the Conference, in addition to a number of issues and reports to be discussed at the meetings of International Labour Organisation scheduled in Geneva in June 2010. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
