Omani Foreign Minister Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, said the relations between the six-nation Arab Gulf Co-operation Council, AGCC, and Iran are normal and improving. Efforts were being made to find out a peaceful solution to the unresolved issues between the two sides, he said.

In reply to a question on the rapprochement between Tehran and the AGCC countries as well as the continuation of the Iranian occupation of the three UAE Islands of Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Musa, he said the stand of the AGCC countries was as clear as that of the UAE. "The call is to hammer out a peaceful solution to the problem, and the call of the President, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, for referring the dispute to the International Court of Justice, ICJ, in the Hague was already declared and well-known,” he said. He added that the stand of Sheikh Zayed was aimed at resolving the issue by peaceful means. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
