GCC ministerial committees begin meetings

The Fifteenth GCC Ministerial Planning and Development Committees meeting has been held yesterday in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minster of Economy. In an opening speech, Al Qasimi who chaired the meeting, emphasised the importance of establishing GCC Statistics Centre, plus conducting surveys and studies within time frame citing the 2010 GCC Census topping the list.

She also highlighted cooperation among GCC countries in the Statistical and surveys domain. The official stressed on awareness to ensure merging the economies of the GCC states into the World Economy plus activating the role of GCC countries into the regional, Arab and international organizations.

Al Qasimi underlined follow up of resolutions of the GCC's Higher Council 26th session resolutions in addition to concerted action related to the demographic structure in specific.

Mohammed Al Mazrroi, Secretary General Assistant of Economic Affairs of the Cooperation Council for Arab States of the Gulf, spoke of integration and cooperation among GCC states in developing statistical surveys on the regional level and to improve economical strategies, plans and development following the discovery of oil.

Al Mazrroi hailed the achieved cooperation by GCC states since its establishment 25 year and stressed on reforming demographic and immigration strategies in addition new census concerning labour force.

The meeting which took place today at Ministerial level states United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain is held periodically to discuss strategies and plan in the domain of statistics and planning development sectors. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
