GCC parliaments endorse four UAE proposals

Jeddah - The Gulf Cooperation Council for Arab States' (GCC) Parliaments have endorsed in its first session of the fifth periodic meeting held at the conference hall in Jeddah, four proposal submitted by the UAE Parliamentary Division headed by the Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC) Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr.

The four proposals include; setting up of the GCC Information Network and assignment of the FNC to prepare a comprehensive study about the network and its system, the General Secretariat of GCC is tasked with preparation of a study on setting up joint GCC Parliament, while the third proposal called for holding annual GCC Parliamentary Conference, whose hosting will be optional and not compulsory to the members. The fourth proposal called for evaluation of the periodic meetings of parliaments, parliamentary coordination committee and the foreign relations. The UAE's FNC was assigned to prepare the study on this issue.

This is the first achievement for the FNC in its new chapter under chair of Al Murr in the first meeting of the new UAE Parliamentary Division abroad. The communiqué will be issued at the end of second session of the fifth periodic meeting, which is underway. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
