Manama - The GCC countries are strongly committed to maintaining their current economic progress and prosperity, said Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE Minister of Economy. "But this progress can best be maintained through a strong partnership between the private and public sectors", Sheikha Lubna said in remarks at the GCC-US Investment Forum held here yesterday.

The UAE official added that a promising future awaits the region in view of the enormous investment opportunities offered by GCC countries. "The UAE and the GCC countries in general have adopted liberal policies which have galvanized direct foreign investments FDIs", she said. The flow of investments, she said, is quite visible in the current growth of the non-oil sector. Other features that have made the region attractive, she said, include state-of-the art economic infrastructure, strategic geographical location, and favourable business climate.
