The Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (Gamco) has been awarded a new five-year contract worth Dh343 million from the UAE Air Force and Air Defence (UAE AF & AD). The contract is meant to carry out second line scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the UAE Air Force fleet of Hawk MK 102, MK63 and MK61 aircraft based at the Khalifa Bin Zayed Air College in Al Ain and Al Minhad Airbase in Dubai.

The contract with Gamco will guarantee a high standard of aircraft maintenance availability and serviceability. The maintenance support contract on the Hawk aircraft also includes component maintenance, engineering and technical support services, training services, maintenance planning and control, and logistics and supply support.

Gamco Chairman Dr Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saif Al Nahyan said the UAE AF & AD had chosen Gamco as their maintenance partner to fulfil its stringent and challenging tasks. This seal of approval by the UAE AF&AD reassures Gamco position as the most reliable and versatile maintenance organisation in the region, he said.

The company was awarded a similar contract in 2005 to offer O&I level maintenance full support at Bateen Air Base for C-130 and L100-30 and CN-235 aircraft. All depot maintenance activities and PDM inspections, cockpits avionics upgrade have been handled by Gamco for the past 17 years as it is the authorised Hercules Service Centre. (The Gulf Today)
