UAE State Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash raised here yesterday afternoon the flag of the Gulf Cooperation Council for Arab States beside the flag of the UAE at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Present were officials of the ministry, GCC ambassadors accredited in the UAE, senior Armed Forces officers and the Ministry of Interior.

The move comes in line with the resolution of the Supreme Council of GCC adopted in its 31st session held in Abu Dhabi, on raising the flag and logo of the GCC beside the national flags of the GCC member countries.

Commenting on the occasion, Gargash said, "amid serious events surrounding us, we are aware about the significance of the GCC, which should be further developed to match our endeavours and challenges".

The GCC was set up in 1981. Since then it has scored many success to become one of the most successful regional blocs. It has so far established the GCC Joint Defence Agreement, the GCC Joint Market and the Power Link Network among the GCC member countries. The UAE reiterates its keenness to support the joint GCC work and bolster cooperation ties among its members to continue building the political, economic, security and social institutions. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
