Geneva: The UAE is taking part in the 102nd session of the International Labour Conference, starting on June 12th at the United Nations Palace and International Labour Organisation (ILO) HQ.

The UAE delegation is to be chaired by Saqr bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Labour, and includes a number of UAE labour specialists.

In the meantime, the Minister of Labour will be taking part in the 45th coordination meeting of labour ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council for Arab States (GCC), to be held on Tuesday. The Minister of Labour will also be meeting Guy Ryder, Director-General of the International Labour Organisation.

The International Labour Conference is expected to witness the participation of a number of nations' leaders and delegates representing 189 ILO member countries.

The conference, running until the 20th of June, will discuss three reports prepared by ILO technical committees, pertaining to sustainable development, suitable jobs, "green" jobs, and social protection within new demographic trends. It will also cover social dialogue in follow-up to an ILO announcement in 2008 calling for social justice for fair globalisation.

The UAE delegation includes Mubarak Saeed Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour, Humaid bin Dimas Al Suwaidi, Assistant Under-secretary for Labour Affairs, officials from the Ministry of Labour, UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and others from labour-related associations in the UAE.

The UAE has been a member of the ILO since 2011. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
