Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Summit on Global Agenda 2014, on Monday lauded the Emirati youth for taking part in the debate on global issues alongside international thought leaders in a bid to find solutions and contribute to sustainable development and growth for the whole world.

Speaking at a meeting with Emirati youth leaders participating in the summit in Dubai, Minister Al Gergawi said, "the national youth's participation in the international event reflects the vision of the U.A.E. leaders who believe in the capabilities of the youth and is interested in tapping into their energy in order to employ them in the optimal way in the service of the society and the achievement of long-term strategies." These discussions, Al Gergawi explained, provide the Emirati youth leaders with an opportunity to network with international thought leaders, decision makers and researchers, and to possess tools for innovation in their areas of work and for finding solutions to global issues of concern to the whole world.

The Summit on the Global Agenda 2014, which is organised by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Dubai between 9-11 November, is the world's largest global brainstorming event, bringing together the most relevant thought leaders of the WEF's Network of Global Agenda Councils. Comprised of more than 80 groups of experts from business, academia, government and civil society, the councils seek to advance knowledge and jointly explore critical issues shaping the global, industry and regional agendas.

The summit brought together more than 1000 members of the network in Dubai to explore the latest developments in business, society and technology, to provide a better understanding of the fundamental transformations impacting our world, and to collaborate in interactive workshops to provide innovative recommendations on some of the most pressing global challenges. This year's Summit introduced a new class of innovations that can help drive solutions for a better future. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
