The H1N1 Higher Supervisory Committee on Thursday held a meeting chaired by Education Minister HE Dr Hanif Hassan.

The supervisory committee was briefed by Dr. Mohammed Mattar Al Kaabi, director-general of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Awqaf (GAIAA), about the preparations of the GAIAA to contribute in awareness campaign whether in mosques or through religious programmes in the mass media, or through Friday sermons in cooperation with the H1N1 higher supervisory committee and the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Hanif thanked the GAIAA for its proposal and efforts in this respect. Meanwhile, the MoH informed the committee that it has organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the educational zones and health authorities a number of workshops in which school directors were educated on how to deal with symptoms of the disease or any eventuality.

The minister notified the committee members about the invitation extended by National Media Council to mass media to attend Tuesday at Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research. The event will highlight the partnership between the media and supervisory committee in regard to community awareness.

The National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority also presented an evaluation about the performance of the committee in order to promote it. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
