The Higher Supervisory Committee for Combating H1N1 flu welcomed and valued the initiative of H.H. Gen.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for launching the national H1N1 vaccination campaign, and being the first one to receive the vaccine yesterday.
Dr. Hanif Hassan, Minister of Health and Chairman of the Committee, said the national immunization drive was launched in line with directives by President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai H. H.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for securing all requirements to keep the virus at bay out of the leadership's care for safety of UAE citizens and expatriate residents.
He also paid tribute to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed for his support for the nationwide health drive and his care for delivery of health services for building a safe, healthy community.
In its meeting yesterday, the committee reviewed a raft of issues concerning the inoculation plan which got underway yesterday. A programme for inoculating pilgrims in coordination with the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments was also discussed. An awareness plan targeting pilgrims was also approved.
Meanwhile, activities of the campaign went on in the presence of the minister of health, senior local and federal health officials, WHO experts and representatives of local, Arab and foreign media. The Committee will announce dates of delivering the vaccine to each group, be nationals or residents. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
