H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA) on Sunday stressed that the UAE, under leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, plays a vital role in global efforts to counter the consequences of natural disasters on humanity.

The humanitarian initiatives launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces promote the unique humanitarian approach of the UAE to help peoples and countries worldwide suffering from crises and disasters, Sheikh Hamdan said at a ceremony in Al Nakheel Palace to honour individual and corporate donors to RCA's humanitarian efforts.

"The giving and generosity of the nationals are authentic values that were promoted by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan who championed the weak and the underprivileged and catered for their needs." Sheikh Hamdan stressed that RCA will continue to take up the humanitarian responsibility in all circumstances on the directives by the prudent leadership to help friendly and sisterly peoples," he said adding that honouring the donors recognises their generosity and giving in support of humanity and humanitarian causes as well as of the UAE's global humanitarian stature. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
