Hamdan Bin Zayed receives Bill Gates

UAE Deputy Prime Minister HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan received yesterday Chairman of Microsoft Bill Gates, who is currently on a visit to UAE.

Sheikh Hamdan welcomed Bill Gates and wished that his stay in the UAE will create the opportunity to exchange views and explore ways for building bridges of cooperation between Microsoft and public as well as private sector institutions in the UAE.

During the conversation, they reviewed the development UAE is witnessing within the framework of the vision and overall strategy of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who have set a goal for sustainable development through the employment of modern technology.

They also reviewed the humanitarian and economic situations on the global level and discussed the role of technology in eradicating poverty and enhancing development in underdeveloped societies.

Sheikh Hamdan stressed the importance of benefitting from the experience and expertise of world companies through setting up partnerships with them to speed up the process of development in the country.

Bill Gates hailed the attitude of the UAE government towards setting up a solid foundation and environment that encourage the IT sector as well as its efforts to bolster a knowledge-based economy. He also welcomed partnerships and alliances between the two sides, enhancing the role of information technology in the overall development. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
