Hamdan Orders urgent relief for Yemeni city

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) has ordered urgent relief to be dispatched to the victims of torrential rains that hit the Yemeni city of Ma'abar. The RCS has responded swiftly to the instructions of Sheikh Hamdan and ordered its Yemen office to assess the damages and determine the urgent needs," said RCS Board Chairman Khalifa Nassir Al Suwaidi.

"Our team is already in the scene, working hand in hand with the Yemeni RCS to alleviate the sufferings of the victims," he added. according to reports by RCS office in Yemen, tens of local people were killed or injured by torrential floods that had been sweeping through Ma'abar, a city 60 kms to the south of the capital Sana'a, rendering hundreds homeless and dredging away farms and cattle.
