H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and chairman of Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), has attended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ERC and the Dukedom of Westminster.

The signing of the memorandum is seen as part of the expanding cooperation between the two sides in charitable and humanitarian fields.

The memorandum was signed by Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ERC, and Gerald Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster.

Sheikh Hamdan affirmed that the MoU is a step towards a new era of partnership and cooperation between the ERC and Dukedom of Westminster, indicating that charitable work is facing large challenges, particularly in assisting displaced people and refugees throughout the world.

He further said that ERC was never far from developments occurring in the world, and it had early recognised the importance of strengthening partnerships with its international counterparts, having taken large strides in this regard.

He added that the authority also has established a number of partnerships with global humanitarian organisations, especially the UN and its specialised agencies.

Further, Sheikh Hamdan welcomed Grosvenor's visit and praised his support for ERC activities.

For his part, the Duke of Westminster extended thanks to Sheikh Hamdan for his interest and support for the activities of ERC, underscoring the UAE's pioneering role, and especially ERC's activities through its local and international initiatives, as well as its support for programmes in international organisations.

He added that the MoU reflects the two sides' commitment to enhance their fruitful partnership and coordination in all fields, pointing out that the MoU is deemed an international agreement that would serve the coming generations.

Among those who attended the signing of the memorandum were Sultan bin Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Director of the Office of Ruler's Representative in Western Region, and Dr. Mohammed Atiq Al Falahi, ERC's Secretary General.

Earlier, Sheikh Hamdan received Gerald Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster, and discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to expand them, especially in trade, investment and humanitarian domains. - Emirates News Agency, WAM –
