H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA), paid today special tribute to all philanthropists whose donations had earned the UAE a reputable place in the international humanitarian scene.

"The UAE has adopted unprecedented and distinguished initiatives in boosting the humanitarian and charitable work and opening the door more widely for all to contribute to efforts aimed at easing suffering of peoples across the world,' Sheikh Hamdan said during a ceremony held to award the RCA gold medals to good-doers and donors.

"The values of charity and good are deeply embedded into the spirit of the UAE citizens who pursued the toes of the wise leadership and followed the path of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in probing the requirements of needy people and meeting their demands,” Sheikh Hamdan added.

"The RCA will continue to deliver its humanitarian responsibility in all circumstances and conditions,” he affirmed.

"The RAC is the best ambassador of the UAE to humanitarian and charitable scenes,” he said, affirming that remarkable achievements attained by the UAE worldwide would not have been made possible without the support of the UAE and expatriate good-doers and philanthropists.

Ahmed Al Mazrouie, Board Chairman of the RCA, said Sheikh Hamdan honouring of the elite group of those philanthropists underlines the country's leadership appreciation of their valuable good deeds.

The RCA has reached out to people in distress in the east and west of the earth, channelling out about Dh 3 billion in more than two decades,” he added.

"We are proud of the generous initiatives and noble stances of those good-doers who act as the true asset of the future of the RCA,” he indicated. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
