H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, received today former Namibian president Sam Nujoma, who is visiting the country to attend the 4th international date palm conference in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Hamdan and his guest exchanged views on the importance of encouraging research and practices that will boost dates productivity, improve food quality, develop new farming methods, conserve the environment and achieve sustainable development.
Sheikh Hamdan said the UAE is experiencing a model experiment for improving dates quality through modern technology and is seeking to promote it in international markets.
The former Namibian president lauded the UAE's achievements in areas of conservation of the environment and wildlife, desertification control and development.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Hamdan welcomed Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan, Pakistan Minister for Communications and discussed with him the possibility of developing bilateral technological cooperation and exchange of expertise in telecommunications. The minister said his visit to the UAE aims to explore investment opportunities the UAE can offer. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
