Hamdan urge Japan to help revive ME peace process

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, has urged Japan to put up more efforts to revive the peace process in the Middle East and affect the international resolutions, mainly the Roadmap. Sheikh Hamdan made his appeal as he met Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Yariko Kawaguchi in Tokyo yesterday on the second day of his official visit to Japan.



The two officials discussed means of strengthening the bilateral cooperation and developments in the Middle East, with emphasis on Iraq.



Sheikh Hamdan also appealed to the Japanese to render humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. He stressed the need to halt the incessant assaults against the Palestinians and put an end to the Israeli occupation and for the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.



He said the objective of his three-Asian nation tour is to expand the scope of his country's economic, trade and investment relations with South Korea, Japan and China. The Japanese Minister said Sheikh Hamdan's visit gains extreme importance in as much as it will strengthen bilateral ties.



Present at the meeting were Major General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Under Secretary of the Interior Ministry, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of Communications and Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhahiri, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Awqaf.
