The delegations participating in the 34th General Conference of UNESCO being held in Paris hailed UAE's global initiatives to support the right for education for the poor countries across the world. They reiterated that all these efforts which carry a stamp of humanitarian nature are well in tune with the goals and objectives of UNESCO.

These remarks came immediately after Dr Hanif Hassan Ali, UAE Minister of Education made his speech addressing the largest educational gathering in the world. In his speech, Dr Hanif gave an exposition of the efforts of UAE in ensuring the education for all, and eradication of illiteracy in the country. He pointed out in his speech that the educational policy followed by the country accepting the right to education for all without gender discrimination focussed on human development for the prosperous future of the country.

He also remarked on the launching of the "Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation", to promote human development in the region with an endowment of US$10 billion by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai Dr. Hanif Hassan also commented on the recent 'Dubai Cares' initiative launched with an aim of providing education for one million poor children worldwide in an effort to break the cycle of global poverty.

In his speech delivered before 2000 strong audience, Dr. Hanif also shed light on the award set up by President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for educational excellence, as well as a number of other awards for academic achievement and innovation.
