Homeland is top priority under Khalifa: Vice President

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has called on members of the Dubai Executive Council to pursue their work and dedication drive bearing in mind the interest of the nation as a top priority for government work as per directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed that government leaders should be at the heart of national service and their first and foremost job is to raise the esteem of the UAE in all walks of life.

The Dubai Executive Council met yesterday under the chairmanship of H. H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and First Deputy Chairman of the Council.

The Vice President has instructed government entities to work together as one team in regular harmony and concord under one umbrella so as to achieve the aspired goals.

Sheikh Mohammed said that he was fully confident of the government leaders' determination to push the construction and development drive ahead as a basic pillar for serving the nation.

Meanwhile, H. H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, affirmed that Sheikh Mohammed's directives would form the terms of reference for the government action to deliver the leadership's vision. He pledged that the government leaders would measure up to his expectation and beat these targeted expectations.

'All government departments will put this challenge into consideration, he stressed.

During the meeting, the Council has approved a recommendation (presented by the social development committee) calling for keeping tuition fees at private schools unchanged in academic year 2011.

The move falls within the framework of the Council's strategy to provide adequate learning environment in line with Dubai government policy for giving education a top priority.

The Council passed its agenda of priorities for the current year which calls for development of the government sector through management of public finance, investment in human capital and upgrading the educational and health sectors.

Agenda concerning the infrastructure and the environment sectors was also discussed. The Human Resources Department presented a report on overall indicators for 2010. The meeting also debated on results emanating from review of human resources law. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
