Huge fire rages at Sharjah scrapyard

A huge fire raged at a scrap yard in Sharjah Industrial Area on Monday.

Five Civil Defence teams were needed to tackle the fire and eventually bring it under control.

Three other teams from Dubai, Ajman and Umm Al Qaiwain were also at the scene, along with a logistics team from Sharjah Police.

Colonel Naser Jumaa Al Hindi of Sharjah Civil Defence told Gulf News there were no causalities in the blaze, which started at 10:50am and burned until at least 1.30pm.

Al Hindi added the cause behind the fire is still under investigation. – Gulf News
