Humanitarian agencies flock to Dubai Aid City

Dubai Aid City's (DAC) strategic advantage in cutting operational costs and response time for international humanitarian agencies has led to a surge in demand for its facilities and services. According to DAC chief Barbara Elisabeth Castek, growing international exposure has been generating demand among more medium-sized humanitarian agencies.

The agency, which is said to be the world's first undertaking to offer a comprehensive one-stop solution to the requirements of humanitarian agencies, will be moving shortly into its permanent multifaceted complex located opposite to the new Jebel Ali Airport.

In phase one, DAC, which already has 23 clients, will offer offices and land to humanitarian agencies interested in setting up base in Dubai.

The aid city with a capacity to accommodate up to 500 clients or more depending on demand will also offer services including crisis room, training and conference centre, advocacy and press centre besides procurement support and various smaller services related to humanitarian work. DAC will also accommodate suppliers who specifically target humanitarian communities. (The Gulf Today)
