Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA), has emphasised on the pivotal role played by the UAE in humanitarian field at the international level.

In his statement on the occasion of the World Humanitarian Day today, Hamdan bin Zayed said the support provided by the UAE for humanitarian issues across the continents comes from the permanent policy of the UAE that calls for cooperation between states and nations to promote world peace.

"It is a policy set by late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and is being upheld by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with the support of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces,” he said.

He pointed out to the efforts of the Red Crescent Authority in supporting Syrian refugees in Jordan, and setting up the UAE- Jordanian camp for sheltering thousands of refugees and the provision of healthcare and education to them in a manner that preserves their human dignity.
