Italian company presents UAE map-shaped mosaic to Nahyan bin Mubarak

A prominent Italian company has presented a memento to that symbolises strong relations of friendship between UAE and Italy to Minister of Higher Education '&' Scientific Research Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.

The memento, a UAE map-shaped mosaic piece ornamented with pure gold, was presented to Sheikh Nahyan yesterday by Lorenzo Lotesto, resident manager of Fantini Mosaici, in presence of Italian Ambassador to the UAE Giorgio Starace.

Sheikh Nahyan thanked the company, saying that the UAE, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan was determined to further strengthen relations with Italy. The mosaic is a depiction of a UAE map, surrounded by black enamel and glass mosaic with seven gold stars representing the seven Emirates .

Lotesto said It took 1,000 hours approximately to prepare the mosaic at the Fantini Mosaic's workshop in Abu Dhabi, adding that it contains 15,000 different pieces.

Fantini Mosaici is a century old Italian company that specialises in the artistic mosaics and marble segment. It earned an excellent reputation in the UAE as a maker of quality indoor walls and VIP Majlis. The most notable work of the company is the Sahan courtyard flooring in the Great Sheikh Zayed Mosque.
