The UAE-financed project for reconstruction of Jenin refugee camp is standing today as one of the greatest humanitarian works by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, according to Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi, Chairman of the Red Crescent Society (RCS).

He told Emirates News Agency (WAM) that he would lead a high-level delegation to the grand celebration of the opening on Thursday of the Dh 100 million project which was ordered by Sheikh Zayed and carried out by the RCS in cooperation with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

Sheikh Zayed has ordered the reconstruction of hundreds of houses in Jenin camp "equipped with every facility to ease the suffering of Palestinians.

Humanitarian projects executed by the RCS since the eruption of the Aqsa Intifada up to end of November 2004 were valued at Dh 420 million. 'Another generous donation by Sheikh Zayed is the construction of 600 houses in Rafah. The project is expected to start soon,' he added. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
