The UAE, under the leadership of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will remain committed to the path drawn by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in supporting the Palestinian cause,' according to Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

'The late Sheikh Zayed has devoted his life to advocate and advance the issues of right and justice across the world.....he stood firmly behind the Palestinian people in their struggle against the Israeli occupation in order to restore their rights and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital,' said Sheikh Hamdan in a statement to mark the completion of the reconstruction of Jenin refugee camp.

Sheikh Hamdan, also President of the Red Crescent Society (RCS), said that the UAE had been following the tragic humanitarian situation in the Palestinian lands and had spared no efforts to assist them and alleviate their sufferings. 'Financed by the RCS, the Dh 100 million Jenin project is one of the leading humanitarian initiatives ordered by the late Sheikh Zayed,' he said.

'The project, which saw the reconstruction of 454 houses and maintenance of around 4000 houses, will stand as a living testimony for the good deed of the late Sheikh Zayed,' he remarked. 'We affirm to the Palestinian people the UAE, under the stewardship of Sheikh Khalifa, will follow in the path charted by the late Sheikh Zayed, in support of the Palestinians so to lead a free, decent life,'. Sheikh Hamdan thanked the UAE and expatriate philanthropists whose donations and support had made the RCS humanitarian projects possible. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
