The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation (KF) team, in co-operation with the UAE Embassy in Lebanon, has distributed a huge amount of winter relief aid to over 5,000 displaced Syrians at Al Kharoub Region in Lebanon.

The gesture was as per the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to immediately launch a humanitarian air bridge to deliver urgent aid to thousands of refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Gaza and other Palestinian cities to help them overcome the repercussions of the snowstorm that was currently sweeping the Levant.

The KF's official source said that earlier yesterday the organisation's team has arrived in Beirut and immediately started distribution of aid to refugees, which has been purchased from the local markets, in collaboration and co-ordination with the UAE Embassy in Beirut.

The team started distribution of aid to refugees at Al Kharoub Region, which including blankets, food baskets and winter clothing.

According to the KF's work plan, in co-ordination with the UAE Embassy in Beirut and Lebanese officials, the team will be heading to Arsal area in case the roads blocked due to the snow are opened.

The source also stated that the distribution of aid will intensify to more than 100,000 Syrian refugees to help them overcome difficult weather conditions that are prevailing in the Levant. – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395274840833.html
