Kenyan Minister of Health lauds UAE humanitarian contribution

Nairobi- Kenyan Minister of Health, Charity Ngilu, yesterday lauded the prominent role played by the UAE in the context of humanitarian work, during her reception of a UAE Red Crescent delegation comprising Dr. Saleh Al Taei, Director of Relief and Heart Surgeon Dr. Adil Al Shamri. The meeting was attended by Kenyan directors of hospitals and officials in the private medical and humanitarian sectors.

Ngilu said that the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Government and people have tremendously supported the Kenyan medical sector in a way which reflected the strength of bilateral ties between the UAE and Kenya.

"Kenya is looking forward to the continuation of joint programmes with the UAE in all medical aspects , like combating aids and malaria, in addition to vaccination against various diseases", she said, praising the training programme supervised over by the UAE National Project for Developing Medical Cadres, and in which 75 medical cadres in the Kenyan medical sector have benefited.

Dr. Shamri said that the UAE Medical Team was one of its kind in the region with the objective of strengthening cooperation between both the public and private sectors at the regional and international levels in order to provide comprehensive medical and surgical care to heart patients of all ages among the needy.

He said the Red Crescent and its external assistance programmes were part of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's programme to extend medical help to the need y in the whole world.

He said:"Red Crescent will incur the expenses of surgeries done to those who did not have the means to be treated for their heart ailments." He lauded the continuous and unlimited support provided to the UAE International Heart Group by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Red UAE Crescent Authority.
