The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, in cooperation with the UAE Embassy in Lebanon, has begun distribution of new consignments of relief materials to 4,000 families in the town of Arsal on the Lebanese-Syrian border, following a wave of extremely cold weather which hit the country recently.

A source at the foundation said that the aid team managed to reach the town of Arsal with great difficulty because of the security situation in the region, in coordination with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Lebanon's Dar al-Fatwa and Arsal Municipality.

The source added that the aid programme is organised under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with the follow up of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to help affected people.

According to the Khalifa Foundation team, the winter relief materials included food, winter clothes, blankets and heaters. – Emirates News Agency, WAM –
