Sana'a: Feb 4th, 2013 (WAM) -- Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation under the supervision of the UAE Embassy in Sana'a has distributed 7400 food baskets to needy families in the Rawdha area of the Bani al-Harith in the Yemeni capital Sana'a.

This came within a program developed by the Khalifa Foundation to implement the directives of His Highness the President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's Dh500 million food-aid for Yemen.

The Khalifa Foundation mission is implementing the third phase of the distribution process aiming to reach ten thousand destitute families in Sana'a.

The Khalifa Foundation has carried out two phases of the humanitarian program during which about 85000 food baskets to needy families have been distributed, with one basket each family, reaching out to the governorates of Abyan, Hodeidah, Hadramout, Aden, Socotra.

The foundation mission adopted the distribution of food in exchange of coupons, coordinating the process with local officials in the Yemeni districts to account for the total number of needy families in every neighborhood and allocate coupons in their names to ensure just distribution of the foodstuff directly to the families.

Ali Mohsen al-Zindani, regional official of Difaa neighborhood in Rawdha, Sana'a has confirmed to Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the distribution process took place on a regular basis and without any hindrance. He also expressed gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Khalifa Foundation for this humanitarian initiative and the generous support provided to the Yemeni people, noting that the UAE is always known for its humanitarian acts towards Yemen and its people. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
