The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation on Wednesday distributed winter aid to 7000 families in the Tunisian governorates of Kasserine and Sidi Bouzid to help them survive the current cold wave that hit the country recently.

An official source from the Foundation said that the effort is in accordance with directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The source added that the Foundation is co-ordinating the operation that runs up to 26th January, with the UAE Embassy in Tunisia and the Tunisian Union of Social Solidarity.

The Foundation's effort targets some 37,000 families in 12 Tunisian governorates.

Governor of Kasserine, Atef Boughatas, accompanied the Foundation's team as they distributed aid in a number of areas in the governorate where 5000 needy families received aid from the foundation.

Governor of Sidi Bouzid, Ammar Khabbabi, presented the Foundation's team with a certificate of appreciation. He thanked the UAE and the humanitarian agency for their generous gesture in the governorate where some 2000 needy families benefited from the winter aid.

Recently, the Foundation distributed humanitarian aid to the population in Kairouan, Beja, Siliana and Kef. – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395275475776.html
