Acting upon directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and instructions of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the U.A.E. Armed Forces, and follow up of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of Khalifa bin Zayed Foundation is implementing a multi-phase massive relief programme in Erbil, capital of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The Foundation aid workers and UAE Consulate General in Kurdistan will oversee the distribution of assistance to 500,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) and 100,000 women and children in the first phase which will last for several days.

The Foundation affirmed that it would remain committed to reach out to the needy population without distinction to faith and ethnicity despite the tremendous humanitarian, geographical and security challenges due to the ongoing fighting in neighbouring districts. – Emirates News Agency, WAM –
