Khalifa and Mohammed VI express conformity of views

Rabat - President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and King Mohammed VI of Morocco reiterated conformity of their views on regional and international issues, mainly the developments of the Palestinian cause and the current situation in Iraq and Lebanon.



In a common communiqué' released simultaneously yesterday in Abu Dhabi and Rabat, the two leaders reiterated solidarity with Lebanon at this critical junction and called for immediate ceasefire and called for the immediate and effective intervention of the UN Security Council to stop the Israeli aggression on Lebanon and maintain its sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with Resolution No. 1559.



They also called the Security Council and great powers to immediately intervene and stop the Israeli hostilities in the occupied Palestinian Territories and further underlined the resumption of the peace process on various tracks in accordance to the Pan Arab Peace Initiative, the proposed roadmap, international resolutions and land-for-peace principle.



Khalifa and Mohammed VI expressed their standing solidarity with the Palestinian people and the Palestinian National Authority.



They welcomed the recent political developments in Iraq and underlined the necessity of the participation of all Iraqi factions and parties in the government. They called for the maintenance of Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity and strongly condemned terrorist attacks and violence acts that target Iraq and its people.



The tow leaders also renewed their call for declaring the Middle East and the Gulf as totally WMD-free areas and called for all countries to join the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty.



The two leaders called for a diplomatic solution for Iran's nuclear file to best serve security, stability in the Gulf area and the Middle East. Khalifa and Mohammed VI renewed condemnation of extremism and all forms and manifestations of terrorism.



The two leaders expressed satisfaction towards the high level of bilateral relations and expressed their keen interest in intensifying discussions and talks to forge a strategic partnership which would fulfil the aspirations of the UAE and Moroccan peoples. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
