Muscat - President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed of Oman felicitated the UAE-Oman e-linking project through Hatta-al Wejajah land routs. The two leaders called upon the concerned ministries in both countries to speed up the execution of the project and described it as an important step in strengthening the brotherly ties between the two countries.

The project which kicked off earlier in January this year with the coordination of departments of immigration in UAE and Oman have been proved successful in easing up the travel of citizens into both countries. The second phase of the project will be broadened to include the travel of expatriates resident in UAE and Oman.

Once the project is completely implemented, a traveller, be it a citizen or resident, will not need to pass through two checkpoints crossing over the boarders to Oman from UAE and vice versa. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
