The 30th GCC summit is being convened amidst highly critical circumstances in light of a raft of developments in the region and the world at large, UAE President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan said yesterday.

"This requires us to reach a common, collective vision, mobilise our efforts and coordinate our stances at all levels in order to maintain our security and stability,” the UAE President said in a statement upon arrival of Kuwait to participate in the GCC summit.

"Through our important meeting under these surrounding circumstances, we renew our determination to support our council and our keenness to boost the drive of our joint action in various developmental, economic, social and cultural fields in order to preserve our interests and realise aspirations of our peoples for security, stability, progress and prosperity,” Sheikh Khalifa said.

He added that resolutions and common visions coming out of the summit would boost the GCC efforts towards full integration and push the GCC joint action towards new horizons that serve interests of GCC countries and peoples. Sheikh Khalifa was welcomed upon arrival by Emir of Kuwait HH Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah, Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Sabah, Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al Sabah, Abdul Rahman Al Attiyah, Secretary General of GCC and other senior Kuwaiti officials. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
