Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation begins to aid thousands affected by blizzard in Lebanon

In implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for the immediate construction of an air bridge to deliver emergency relief supplies to thousands of refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, and those affected in Gaza and the rest of the Palestinian territories to help them cope with the blizzard hitting the Levant region, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has reached out to the UAE Embassy in Lebanon to assess the level of the humanitarian situation.

An official source at the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, a major UAE humanitarian agency, said that the move also comes in response to the directives of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to assemble a working group comprising of a number of humanitarian and relief agencies in the country for the swift distribution of emergency relief items such as food, winter clothing, tents, mattresses, blankets, pillows, heaters and fuel oil to those affected. So far, the official said, and according to an initial field survey, more than 100,000 people are expected to benefit from this immediate relief assistance.

The official added that a delegation from the Khalifa Foundation is leaving for Lebanon tonight and will begin distributing relief items to refugee camps in affected areas by Thursday. – Emirates News Agency, WAM –http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395274780197.html
