The Council of Trustees of the Zayed Charitable Foundation held a meeting here yesterday under the chairmanship of Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Industry and Chairman of the Council. The Council praised President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for their generous donations to the foundation.

The Council also announced a new donation of one million US dollars by Sheikh Khalifa, to implement a number of medical projects in one of the republics of the former Soviet Union. The council also thanked Sheikh Khalifa for giving the honour to the foundation to implement these projects. The meeting discussed progress of work on various projects being implemented in the UAE and foreign countries.

The meeting was informed that four of the eight major projects in the country had been completed at a cost of Dh130 million. The council approved the setting up of a Dh12 million Waqf (endowment) for cleaning up mosques in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The project will be carried out jointly by the organisation and the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Awqaf.
