Khalifa offers support to build orphanage in Syria

Damascus - Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, the President's Advisor, yesterday met with Archbishop Luga Al Khoury, Assistant Patriarch of Roman Orthodox. During the meeting Sheikh Sultan presented a cash donation made by President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to help build an orphanage in Damascus suburbs.

The orphanage will accommodate 2,000 children who will receive care and education. Sheikh Khalifa's donation is an expression of the cordial spirit prevailing among different religions. Al Khoury described Sheikh Khalifa's contribution as a "gesture we very much appreciate and cherish." "The UAE has never ceased to support its Arab and Muslim brethren," he added. The meeting was attended by Yousif Mohammed Al Madfaee, UAE Ambassador to Syria. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
