President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has instructed exemption of offenders of a circular issued by the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) on May 4th from financial fines for failing to renew the National Health Insurance Company (Daman) health policy on time. The fine is Dh 300 for each delayed month.

Sheikh Khalifa's instructions were meant to ease financial burdens of a large segments of the Daman policy holders who were not able to renew their policies by the expiry date. The President's instructions aim at streamlining procedures for renewal of Daman health cards after services centres witnessing overwhelming rush from card holders to renew them to avoid fines which imposed by HAAD as of March 2009. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
