Khalifa receives Indonesian President

President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks in Abu Dhabi at the Al Mushref Palace with Indonesian President, Sisolo Bambang Yodhoyono, who is currently on a visit to the UAE. During the meeting which was held in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister, Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Khalifa warmly welcomed the Indonesian President and his accompanying delegation and expressed the hope for stronger relations between the two countries in various fields.



The UAE President reiterated the UAE's commitment to boost relations with Indonesia, particularly in the economic and trade areas through the activating of trade and boosting investment between the two sides. He said the exchange of official visit between economic and business delegations from both countries would go a long way to further boost ties between the two countries and take them to a higher height and open more avenues of cooperation and coordination between them.



The Indonesian President, for his part, praised the UAE for achieving great developments in all fields under the wise leadership of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He expressed his country's great interest in opening more avenues of cooperation and investment with the UAE, which, he said, enjoys liberal economy and is open to international market.



He said his country's great interest in boosting ties with the UAE stems from its deep belief that the UAE is an important regional hub for trade and investment in the Middle East region and an attractive spot for capital flow from all over the world, citing the absolute security and stability which the UAE enjoys in all fields.



The Indonesian president expressed profound gratitude to the UAE for the valuable assistance it gave to Indonesia in the aftermath of the tsunami disaster. He said the assistance went a long way to alleviate the sufferings of the victims of the tsunami.



He expressed the hope that his visit to the UAE and meeting with the UAE President would produce something good in the interest of the peoples of the two countries.



The two leaders reviewed during the meeting bilateral ties, particularly in the areas of economy, trade and investment and discussed ways to boost them. They shared ideas on a number of issues and developments in the light of the current developments on the regional and international scenes. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
