Khalifa receives Musharraf's letter

President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has received from Pakistani President, Pervez Musharraf, a letter dealing with bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.



The letter was presented to the UAE President, when he received in Abu Dhabi last night at the Al Bateen palace, in the presence of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Pakistani Foreign Minister, Khurshid Kasuri, who arrived here earlier today on a two-day visit to the UAE.



Sheikh Khalifa, who warmly welcomed the Pakistani minister, expressed his personal condolences and those of the UAE government and people for the devastating earthquake that killed and maimed tens of thousands of people in Pakistan. He reiterated the UAE's commitment to continue to provide support to Pakistan until it overcomes the catastrophe.



The Pakistani minister conveyed to the UAE President greetings and appreciation from President Musharraf and the Pakistani people for the UAE's noble stance towards Pakistan. He said the UAE was always there when Pakistan is in need and this reflects the depth of fraternal relations between the peoples of the two countries. He commended the UAE for the relief assistance it continues to provide for the victims of the earthquake, including the field hospital the UAE built in the affected areas and the flying of the seriously injured persons to receive intensive medical treatment in the UAE.



During the meeting, they discussed the outstanding ties between the two countries and ways to further boost them in all fields. They also discussed the latest developments at the regional and international levels. Sheikh Khalifa conveyed through the minister his profound greetings to the Pakistani President, government and people, wishing the people affected by the earthquake quick recovery and good health.
