Khalifa receives Sarkozy's letter

President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has received from French President Nicolas Sarkozy, a letter dealing with bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to boost them in various fields.

The letter was presented to Foreign Minister, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, when he received at the Emirates palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi yesterday, visiting French Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Mrs Anne-Marie IDRAC.

During the meeting, which was attended by Foreign Trade Minister, Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al-Qasimi, they discussed the world financial crisis, the growing economic, trade and investment cooperation between the UAE and France and the significance of giving regular boost to these relations.

Sheikh Abdullah praised President Sarkozy for his great efforts during his country's tenure, as the current EU President, including his support for the signing of the free trade agreement between the European Union (EU) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The UAE Foreign Minister welcomed the opening of French Investment Agency's regional representation office in Abu Dhabi to cover the Gulf and the Middle East regions.

The French Minister said President Sarkozy will soon call for a world summit to discuss the current world financial crisis and change th4e global financial system. She reiterated the commitment of her country and French companies to boost their investments in the UAE. She praised the level of economic, trade, investment and infrastructure development in the UAE. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
