Khalifa returns after Saudi visit

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan yesterday returned to Abu Dhabi yesterday after a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia. He was received on arrival by Lieutenant General Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister.



During the visit he performed Umrah and met the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia. He also held talks with Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, Crown Prince, First Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the National Guard. The talks focused on ways to boost bilateral cooperation in various areas.



The meeting was attended on the UAE side by Saeed Mohammad Al Gandi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, Sheikh Saeed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sea Ports Authority, Major General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Interior Minister, Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Information and Culture, Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, a number of Sheikhs, ministers, senior officials and Saeed Hamdan Al Naqabi, UAE Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.



Present on the Saudi side were Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Second Deputy Prime Minister, Defence and Aviation Minister and Inspector General of Saudi Arabia, a number of Saudi princes, senior officials and Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Bin Muammar, Saudi Arabian ambassador to UAE.



Saudi newspapers yesterday covered the visit by Sheikh Khalifa. They hailed the visit as a landmark in the relations between the countries. The newspapers gave wide coverage for the Umrah pilgrimage by Sheikh Khalifa. The warm reception received by Sheikh Khalifa was an expression of the love shown by the Saudi people.



Al Jazeera published a statement from Sheikh Khalifa which described his visit to Saudi Arabia as an expression of sincere feelings towards the Saudi leadership. It also published a biography of Sheikh Khalifa until his accession as the Ruler of the UAE. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
