King Abdullah II of Jordan said yesterday that he was impressed by the advanced level reached by the UAE in planning and organizing major specialized exhibitions. King Abdullah stated after a tour of the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2005) that the event, which was opened today by General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, is displaying the most advanced Defence technology and systems, thus placing itself among the world's high profile defence shows.

King Abdullah appraised himself with the latest equipment and systems on display. Meanwhile, Jordanian Prime Minister Faisal Al Fayez praised the good organization of IDEX as one of the prestigious events hosted by the UAE. He stressed the need for Arab countries to arm themselves with latest weaponry for self-defence. The joint UAE-Jordanian manufacturing of the personnel carriers vehicle 'Tiger' is a testimony of progress made in this field. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
